Description:

One thing you’ll learn about this town is that the girls are always coming and going. They come in from the far-flung provinces in search of a “get-rich-quick” type of situation they’ve heard all too much about; the trip usually arranged for by a local neighbor or relative with connections to the business here. They then spend the next several years living out an ever-so-predictable chronology of events.

At first, the working is exciting and the cash is more than they’ve ever dreamed of. They’ll make a few trips back home to the province for holidays and family (local boyfriend) visits. Before too long, the decent-to-good-looking ambitious ones will have a foreign boyfriend in every country in the Western Hemisphere, a foreigner expat “Daddy” living in town and a Filipino “Booty Call” boyfriend close to their own age—either back in the province or also in town here (or both).

As you can imagine, this makes for a rather busy schedule. Some are better at hiding it than others, but an experienced mongering eye can spot that tell-tale “restlessness” quite easily. After all, it is hard to be calm when you have so much going on. This type of unscrupulous lifestyle stems more out of necessity than of choice. You see, for most girls here, their most valuable commodities are the ever-fleeting characteristics of youth and beauty (read: pussy). A little voice inside their head is constantly reminding them of that. They know full well they only have a limited time to find that “Golden Goose”. What we might call being dishonest or promiscuous, they simply see as not putting all of their survival & future eggs in one basket; a difficult concept to grasp for the Western mind, but the reality here nonetheless.

So the byproducts of these circumstances are thousands of unknowing foreign men, who either meet these girls on short holiday here (or *gasp*, in online chatrooms, dating or webcam sites), falling under that magical spell of Filipina charm and succumbing to a strange, but all-too-common sense of obligation for financial “help”. Varying from the occasional cash handout or Western Union remittance, all the way to full-fledged regular “support” in which they firmly believe they have secured a girl’s celibacy when they are not here.

While doing so may or may not keep them out of the bar, we often observe girls “on-support” morph into some hard-to-define hybrid between working bargirls and unapologetic freelancers. You see it time and time again. Out of the bar and supposedly “on-support” by another foreigner, but when the “other” boyfriend is in town, they are back here also.

Which brings us to this week’s episode: Upon thinking about everything we just described above, we thought, “What better place to find our type of young lady than at the bus terminal?” And sure enough, a cute, spunky-looking thing in a red dress plopped right off that first bus. Something about Laya suggested she was living amidst the very chronology of a girl’s life here that was just discussed. Started working in town a few years ago, then dabbled in cyber-sex webcam stuff. Then back to the province “on-support”, but with regular trips back up here whenever certain “friends” came back. Yep, that was her story.

As this week’s episode clearly highlights, there’s a certain “johnny-come-lately” attitude that prevails amongst these girls out of survivalist instincts. Simply put, a girl will NOT pass up the chance to eat today, based on promises of life-long food tomorrow. If you ever have, or ever will get involved with a girl from this sordid little town, stew on that a bit and you’ll stay a richer man.
